Synthetic Organic/Inorganic Chemistry

Synthetic chemistry is one of the core research theme of our group. Here at the Department of Chemistry we design and synthesise new compounds and these new compounds leads to numerous applications in pharmaceuticals, materials, catalysis and into biological systems. In our group synthetic chemistry spans from the preparation of organic molecules to the creation of metal complexes in various environments.

Homogeneous & Heterogeneous Catalysis

Synthesis of new catalysts is used to find more efficient ways to mass-produce the compounds that support our standard of living, and to prepare new compounds.

Fluorescent Molecular Sensor

Fluorescent molecular sensor or chemosensor or fluoroionophore is a molecular that is used for sensing of an analyte to produce a detectable change or a signal by means of fluorescence. In our group we design and synthesise new fluorescent molecular sensors for the selective recognition of metal ions and anions.

Computational Study & Crystallography

We have also directed our research in the investigation of geometry of the coordination compounds by theoretical study and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. DFT calculations are performed for the both organic molecule as well as coordination compounds.
